Irenaeus Herok Bio

Photographer and Director Irenaeus Herok (Irek) made Australia his home 8 years ago, inspired to evolve his art and photography practice in an environment that suits his passion for nature and light.

Classically trained in Fine Art, Irenaeus forayed into design and visual effects for feature film, before circling back to the creative freedom of directing his own stills and motion imagery.

Balancing technical precision with his own unique style, Irenaeus’ portraits combine a fine balance of traditional and contemporary aesthetics, influenced by old master paintings and cinema.

He is drawn to shooting human interactions with and within landscapes (often from the air) with a combination of technically complex, yet visually simple imagery that is extremely powerful.

When he is not collaborating with creative teams to help shape brands, he can be found rebuilding his beautiful classic sailing boat on Sydney harbour.

Irenaeus works extensively for both Australian and international brands including; Apple, Fubiz, Hermès, Jurlique, Lufthansa, Sofitel Hotels, Sydney Dance Company & Sydney University. Publications include; New Scientist, Vanity Fair, Vice, Wired Magazine, Slanted Magazine, Smithsonian Magazine, Spiegel Magazine, Travel Book, The Guardian, 212 Magazine & Gulf News.
